NEW ORLEANS – Huston-Tillotson volleyball player Hayley Broussard was named the HBCU Athletic Conference's Freshman of the Week following her performances during the week of August 25 through 31, the conference announced Tuesday.

Broussard led the Rams with 18 kills and a .293 hitting percentage during the Texas Two Step Tournament hosted by Texas Wesleyan and Nelson universities. She had a high of nine kills in a sweep of Red River Athletic Conference school Louisiana Christian.

She also led the Rams' front row defense with 12 blocks.

A true freshman from West Columbia, Texas (Columbia), Broussard is the first HT volleyball player to earn a weekly award from the HBCU Athletic Conference. Huston-Tillotson joined the NAIA-affiliated league in July.

Broussard's award was the first weekly conference award for a Ram volleyball player since Elaina Spriggins was named the Red River Athletic Conference's Setter of the Week following matches the week of Oct. 28 through Nov. 3, 2024.
