AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University's volleyball team split their first two sets with the University of St. Thomas (Texas) before the visiting Celts claimed a four-set win Wednesday at HT's Branch Gymnasium.

Scores of the match were 25-14, 18-25, 25-20, and 25-21.

Adeja Peterson knocked down eight kills and tallied 16 digs for the Rams (4-16).
Danelle McCullough led the Rams' defense with 18 defense, while
Elaina Spriggins handed out 21 assists.

The Rams took advantage of eight UST attack errors and six service errors by the Celts to take set two. HT needed only five kills to win the set and also benefitted from five aces.

Wednesday's loss was the sixth setback this season to a team from the NCAA's Division III-affiliated Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, but the first that needed more than three sets. The Rams will rematch UST in Houston next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Rams will set their sights on Red River Athletic Conference play Friday and Saturday when they visit rival Jarvis Christian (9-14). First serve Friday at Rand Gymnasium is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the teams set to play again Saturday at noon.
