KERRVILLE, Texas – The Rams of Huston-Tillotson University were competitive and held leads in all three sets played Wednesday in a match won by the host Schreiner Mountaineers.
Schreiner won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-19.
Kennedy White led the Rams with eight kills while
Breana Clark put away seven kills and hit a team-high .357 during the match.
Elaina Spriggins handed 25 assists for HT (1-4).
The HT defense was led by
Jaalin Rosser, who tallied 12 digs. White recorded 10 digs, followed by nine digs apiece from Spriggins and
Danelle McCullough.
Wednesday's match was the first between Huston-Tillotson and Schreiner – an NCAA Division III program – since the 2018 season when the Rams split a home-and-home series. The Mountaineers will visit Branch Gymnasium for a rematch on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
The Rams open Red River Athletic Conference play this weekend with a pair of matches at Texas A&M–Texarkana. HT will take the court against the Eagles at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, and again at noon the following day.
