PINEVILLE, La. – Huston-Tillotson University's women's soccer team had a less-than-ideal start to their two-match road trip to Louisiana on Thursday as Louisiana Christian claimed a 5-0 victory.

At the Wildcat Football and Soccer Field, the visiting Rams kept close to their hosts Thursday for most of the match. It wasn't until the near the final quarter-hour that the Wildcats broke away, as LCU scored three goals in the final 16 and a half minutes.

LCU's Elisa Lopez scored two goals for the third-place Wildcats (7-4-2), who improved to 6-1-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. Lopez claimed the match-winner less than a minute before halftime and scored again in the 74th minute to give the 'Cats a comfortable 3-0 lead. She later assisted on teammate Giselle Laing's goal in the 76th minute.

HT's Juliet Morales-Martinez made four saves and gave up four goals as the goalkeeper of record for the Rams. Jaycee Woods made three saves en route to shutout for LCU.

Though they were outshot 18-7 in the match, the Rams (2-7-1, 1-5-1 RRAC) were not without their scoring chances. Kayla Evans nearly broke a scoreless draw 18 minutes into the contest a shot to the lower right that was turned away by Woods.

Noelia Garcia also came close to putting the Rams on the scoreboard with a high, arcing free kick toward the top of the goal that Woods stopped.

The Rams return to action Saturday when they travel to nearby LSU–Alexandria. Kickoff between HT and the Generals is scheduled for 1 p.m. on the LSU–Alexandria campus.
