AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University's women's soccer team was denied a second consecutive win Saturday as they dropped a hard-fought contest to visiting Houston–Victoria by a score of 2-0.
At the Onion Creek Soccer Complex, the Rams held their visitors scoreless for almost 75 minutes before the Jaguars' Alva Klockare gave her team the lead. Klockare later assisted on Kyleigh Spree-Kolos' insurance goal in the 84th minute.
Though the Jaguars outshot Huston-Tillotson 19-6 in the match, the Rams were not without chances to score Saturday. The Rams fired three shots on goal in the second half;
America Macias came closest with a long strike in the 89th minute that UHV goalie Franciezca Blancaflor saved into the crossbar before ceding an HT corner kick.
HT's freshman goalkeeper Juliet Morales-Martinez made eight saves for the Rams, which tied the high mark for saves in her young collegiate career.
Saturday's match was HT's third home contest in the Rams' last four matches, and part of a six-game stretch that will see the Rams play a total five home matches.
The Rams return to action Thursday, Oct. 10, when they host Paul Quinn College in a Red River Athletic Conference match at the Onion Creek facility. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
