AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University's softball team won its first-ever league games as a member program of the HBCU Athletic Conference as the Rams claimed a Saturday afternoon sweep of Voorhees (S.C.).
The Rams won the opening game by a score of 11-3 and then defeated the Tigers 12-2 in the second contest. Neither game went beyond five innings.
With the sweep, HT (2-14) started 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2019, when the Rams opened their Red River Athletic Conference schedule with a three-game sweep at home over Houston–Victoria (now Texas A&M–Victoria). The 2019 Rams went 14-9 in RRAC play, and 19-16 overall.
The Rams conclude their series with Voorhees on Sunday at Mabson Field on 12th Street in east Austin. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.

GAME ONE: HT Rams 11, Voorhees (S.C.) 3
The Rams gave starting pitcher Alexis Tamez a comfortable advantage with a six-run third inning that stretched HT's lead to 8-0. Tamez helped her own cause with a two-run double in the inning that scored Denae Hernandez and Kieana Cruz. That hit was followed by an RBI ground-rule double by Hailey-Jane Holder that scored pinch-runner Mackenzie Turner.
Hernandez and Madison Stimpson knocked RBI singles in the inning, while Alayali Alaniz began the scoring in the frame with a sacrifice fly that scored Alexis Gaona.
In the circle, Tamez, a native of Brownsville, Texas, and a transfer from Alvin Community College, struck out eight batters and allowed only four hits over five innings of work to earn her first win in an HT uniform.
Cruz had two RBIs in the game as she opened the scoring with a first-inning sacrifice fly that scored Ciara Cantu. Gaona also scored on the play thanks to a Voorhees error.
In the fourth inning, Cruz knocked an RBI double that Isabella Roblero from third base. Roblero ended the game early with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth that scored Gaona and Stimpson and gave the Rams the eight-run advantage needed to end the contest.
Gaona collected two doubles and a single in the opening game and scored three of HT's runs.

GAME TWO: HT Rams 12, Voorhees (S.C.) 2
HT's offense continued to pile on runs in the second game as the Rams needed only the minimum four and a half innings to claim the sweep. The Rams took advantage of five Voorhees errors in the game, as only five of their runs were batted in.
Sophomore pitcher Marleigh Robinson pitched the finest game of her HT career, allowing only one earned run and scattering eight hits while striking out two batters. It was her first five-inning, complete-game win, and first complete-game victory since HT's 10-6 triumph over Texas College on March 14, 2025.
Stimpson's bat led the way for the Rams in game two, as she went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs while also scoring a run. Gaona and Hernandez had two hits apiece in the game, giving both players two multi-hit games for the day.
Cantu walked twice and scored two runs in game two and was the only HT player to cross the plate twice in the game. Ten other Rams scored once in the contest.
The Rams scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to stretch their lead to 12-1. Hernandez and Stimpson knocked RBI singles, while Roblero had an RBI groundout in the inning. Voorhees contributed four errors in the inning alongside HT's four hits.
