Vincent Robinson

Vincent D. Robinson was named Director of Athletics at Huston-Tillotson University in November 2025. In addition to leading the athletic department, he also serves as the University’s Athletic Compliance Officer.

Prior to his arrival at HT, Robinson served as Director of Athletics at Clinton College in Rock Hill, S.C., during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years. During his tenure, he led the athletic program’s growth from three sports to eleven sports. He launched three new varsity programs (men’s Golf, and men’s and women’s cross country), three junior varsity sports (women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball), and two co-ed varsity sports (archery and cycling).

The addition of junior varsity programs generated approximately $1.25 million annually in new institutional revenue for Clinton College. Robinson secured grants to launch cycling and archery—making Clinton College the first HBCU in the nation to sponsor archery.

Robinson also upgraded the scholarship model from tuition-only to full athletic scholarships, significantly improving recruitment and retention. He also transitioned all of Clinton’s teams from coach-driven vans to charter buses and secured funding for the first full-time athletic trainer in school history.

Under Robinson’s academic leadership, the student-athlete cumulative GPA at Clinton rose from 2.4 to 3.1 following the implementation of a mandatory five-hour weekly study hall. He instituted a mandatory 15-credit enrollment requirement for all student-athletes, led Clinton’s largest-ever Summer Bridge class (65 student-athletes), and celebrated the institution’s highest number of student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or higher (67).

Clinton College’s athletic department also saw major facilities upgrades under Robinson’s leadership, including new athletic lockers equipped with televisions and an enhanced sound system. He was unanimously selected as Vice Chairperson of the National Christian College Athletic Association’s (NCCAA) South Region.

Robinson also built impactful community and corporate partnerships, including a national YMCA membership program for all Clinton College student-athletes and coaches, a practice-site partnership with Leroy Springs Golf, and an exclusive transportation agreement with Prideway Tours. He also established the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), partnered with W.A.C.H. for mental health counseling, and implemented mandatory meetings with the on-campus mental health specialist each semester. Robinson oversaw Clinton College’s largest enrollment in history during Fall 2025, with 145 students—120 of them student-athletes.

Before Clinton, Robinson served as Deputy Director of Athletics at Miles College in Birmingham, Ala., during the 2022–2023 academic year, leading Operations, Academics, Student Services, New Initiatives, and Special Projects. Under his academic direction, Miles College won the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s (SIAC) Academic Commissioner’s Cup for having the top GPA in the conference. Nine of the ten athletic programs posted team GPAs above 3.0. Robinson also created a formal Mentorship Program pairing junior student-athletes with professionals in their desired career fields.

As Associate Head Coach of Men’s Basketball at Miles, Robinson earned national recognition for his recruiting and player development. He was named one of the Top 50 Most Impactful NCAA Division II Assistant Coaches by Silver Waves Media, and the Top Division II HBCU Assistant Coach by the Minority Coaches Association. From 2018 to 2023, Miles led NCAA Division II in overall team defense and won three SIAC championships during that period.

Earlier in his career, Robinson founded The Robinson School, a nationally recognized prep school in Irvington, N.J. His programs consistently produced scholarship-level talent, with his 2009-10 NIA Prep team ranked No. 9 nationally by ESPN and his 2014–2015 Robinson School team winning the Postgraduate National Championship. As a head coach, he holds a career record of 287–55, with eight conference championships and six Coach of the Year awards.

A native of Irvington, N.J., Robinson played collegiate basketball at Union County College and Rutgers University–Newark, where he led the team in both scoring and rebounding from during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers–Newark along with a master’s certificate in Non-Profit Management.

Robinson is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). He also teaches financial literacy, credit repair, and business credit in his free time. He is the proud father of five children —Kimberly, Tiarah, Keyera, Taylor, and Jayden — and grandfather to three: Francesca, Kyla, and Omar.
