AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University's volleyball team opened a seven-match homestand Wednesday with a non-conference match against Texas Lutheran. The visiting Bulldogs won the match in three sets.
Scores of the match were 25-8, 25-14, and 25-17.
The Rams, winners of their last three Red River Athletic Conference matches, were led by
Kennedy White's eight kills.
Chloe Gaytan chipped in six kills, while
Elaina Spriggins handed out 10 assists.
HT's defensive effort was led by
Danelle McCullough, who tallied eight digs in the match.
Aniyah Asberry dug six TLU attacks.
Texas Lutheran (10-5), a member institution of the NCAA's Division III, was led by Brylie Nedd's 12 kills and .444 hitting percentage.
The third set of Wednesday's match saw four ties and three lead changes before TLU pulled away for good. Three points or fewer separated the teams during the set until TLU's late four-point run gave the Bulldogs a 21-15 lead.
Huston-Tillotson returns to action Friday when the Rams host Texas A&M–Texarkana in the first of two weekend RRAC matches. First serve Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m.
