AUSTIN – The Huston-Tillotson University women's basketball team claimed its third consecutive victory Saturday as they defeated conference rival Paul Quinn College 78-71.
Wilashia Burleson posted her third double-double of the season in leading three Ram players scoring in double-figures. Burleson, a junior transfer from Temple, Texas (Temple College) scored 24 points and pulled in 12 rebounds.

Aliyah Carter scored 19 points and handed out six assists for the Rams (8-7, 7-5 RRAC), while
Destiny Stanford chipped in 11 points for HT.
Cierra Taylor led the visiting Tigers (8-9, 7-7 RRAC) with 20 points and four assists.
The Rams dominated the first two quarters and took a 45-28 lead into halftime. In outscoring their guests 27-18 in the second quarter, the Rams shot 76.9 percent (10 of 13) from the field.
HT led by as many as 19 points early in the third quarter but denied the Tigers a late rally in the game's final period. Paul Quinn trimmed HT's 13-point lead to 62-58 with nine unanswered points during a four-minute stretch midway through the fourth quarter.
The Tigers would get within three points during the final minutes but got no closer as the Rams held on for their sixth consecutive triumph over Paul Quinn College.
Saturday's physical game saw the two teams combine for 67 free throw attempts, with the Rams shooting 34 of those tries. Burleson was 8-of-12 from the free throw line, while Carter made eight out of her 13 attempts.
The Rams return to action Monday, Jan. 13, when they host Southwest (N.M.), as part of a doubleheader that was rescheduled from the previous Thursday due to the winter storm. Tipoff for the women's game between HT and Southwest is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Branch Gymnasium.
