NEW ORLEANS – Huston-Tillotson University's women's soccer team swept the four weekly awards given by the HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) after the Rams won both of their league matches last week.

Senior forward Kayla Evans was named Offensive Player of the Week. Goalkeeper Citlaly Vences claimed Defensive Player of the Week. Defender Imeri Hernandez took home Freshman of the Week. Jerusalem Rodríguez-Gamez garnered Newcomer of the Week. The women were honored for their performances between October 13-19, the conference announced on Monday.

Evans scored two goals to help the Rams win two HBCUAC matches. On Monday, she scored in the 81st minute to seal a 4-1 victory over Wiley University. She scored the match-tying goal in a 2-1 win over Paul Quinn College on Saturday. Her performance helped the Rams take first place in the HBCUAC West Division. Evans leads the team with six goals.

Vences made seven saves on eight shots in the Rams victory over Wiley University on Monday. She ranks second in the conference with a .766 save percentage and third with 36 saves. This is Vences' third honor.

Hernandez scored two game-winning goals in Huston-Tillotson's victories over Wiley on Monday and Paul Quinn on Saturday. They were her first goals of her career.

Rodriguez-Gamez earns her second weekly honor. She scored twice in Monday's victory over Wiley University. It was the second time she's scored multiple goals in a match.

The Rams are in first place in the HBCUAC's West Division with a 3-0 league record. They conclude the regular season Saturday, Oct. 25, when they host Wiley at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.
