AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University's women's basketball team opened the 2025-26 basketball season Thursday with a 76-38 win over the College of Biblical Studies–Houston.

At HT's Branch Gymnasium, senior forward
Wilashia Burleson posted a double-double with a career-high 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Rams. Her 11 made field goals (on 17 attempts) was also a career high; she also handed out five assists and blocked four shots.

Destiny Stanford scored 16 points and recorded eight steals for the Rams, while junior transfer
Xaria Culver scored 15 points for HT. Deja El-Amin and Sierra Portis scored 10 points apiece to lead College of Biblical Studies.

THE KEY POINTS
HT took control in the second quarter by outscoring the visiting Ambassadors 16-3 during the game's second 10 minutes. The Rams forced eight turnovers in the quarter and held CBSH to 1-of-16 shooting from the field during the second quarter.

The Rams opened the second quarter by scoring 14 consecutive points. Viviyn McLeod's 3-pointer with 3:51 remaining in the period was the only points for the Ambassadors during the frame.

After ending the third quarter with a 54-32 lead, the Rams erased any remaining doubts as to the end result by outscoring CBSH 22-6 in the fourth period.

NOTEWORTHY
• The Rams controlled the paint on both ends of the floor, outscoring CBSH 40-14 in points in the paint.

• HT forced 28 total turnovers, which yielded a 33-12 Ram advantage in points off turnovers.

• The College of Biblical Studies is in its third year as a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) program; the 38-point setback was a considerable improvement from the 106-19 HT win in Austin in 2023.

Kendall DuCree improved to 3-0 against teams that compete outside of the NCAA and NAIA as he opened his tenth season guiding the Rams.
