SAN ANTONIO – Huston-Tillotson University's baseball team continued its hot start to the 2026 season Tuesday with a 3-2 non-conference road win at Our Lady of the Lake.
The Rams (7-3) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first two innings and withstood a pair of unearned runs by the host Saints to claim the win. Tucker Allen's RBI triple to score Josh Wilk in the top of the second inning proved to be the game-winning RBI.
Starting pitcher Nathaniel Davila pitched five scoreless innings to pick up his second victory of the season. The San Antonio native and transfer from NCAA Division I Mississippi Valley State struck out six batters while allowing only two hits.
Relief pitchers Adrian German, Chris Rodriguez, and Evan Mendoza all worked at least an inning, with no HT pitcher giving up earned runs. Mendoza retired OLLU in order in the ninth inning – striking out two – for his first save of his HT career.
The Rams opened the scoring with Noah Alvarez' RBI single that scored Trey Garza from third base in the first inning. After a wild pitch to Danny Hernandez moved Garza and Alec Worden forward on the basepaths, Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly that scored Worden and gave the Rams a 2-0 lead.
HT has now won six consecutive games, the longest such streak for the Rams baseball team since they won 11 consecutive contests in March 2008. Tuesday's win over the Saints was also HT's first-ever road win at Our Lady of the Lake.
The Rams return to action Saturday when they open at three-game series at Texas A&M–Victoria, ranked 20th in the NAIA's preseason poll. Saturday's game starts at 2 p.m.; the teams will then contest a doubleheader Sunday starting at noon.
