HT Rams Student-Athlete of the Month: Brandi Edmonds

9/16/2026 1:02:00 PM

AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University volleyball player Brandi Edmonds has been recognized as her sport's HT Rams Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of August. She is the first volleyball player to be honored as part of an HT Athletics initiative that began after the fall sports season midway through the 2025-26 year.

Brandi is a 6-foot-3 freshman middle blocker from Beaumont, Texas, where she was a second team all-district honoree playing for West Brook High School. She is planning to major in communications at HT.

For head volleyball coach Peter Cruz, it was an easy choice to nominate Brandi for his first Student-Athlete of the Month honor.

"Brandi led our team in kills and hitting percentage in the month of August, which is an impressive feat for a first-year freshman," Cruz said.

Brandi hit .232 during HT's first eight matches of the season in August, knocking down 58 kills among her 155 total attack attempts. She also ranked second on the team in blocks during the month of August, taking part in 18 total blocks (three solo, 15 assisted).
