Kicking IT with HT Lady Rams Basketball November 5th

AUSTIN, TX – October 21, 2022 – The Huston-Tillotson University women's basketball first official home game will be on Nov. 5, 2022, at home against the University of North Texas (Dallas). The Lady Rams' open with a 2 p.m. tipoff and will include a game day experience sponsored by local shoe boutique, Kicking It. Prior to the game's start, Kicking It will host the third annual "ATX Black Wall Street" event from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the campus grounds. 

"ATX Black Wall Street" will feature a gathering of Black owned businesses and vendors catering to the East Austin community, while paying homage to the original Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Additionally, this special game-day event will include vendors, DJ, music, and food. During the basketball season's first home game, attendees will have the opportunity to receive a limited edition Kicking It ATX Huston-Tillotson t-shirt, participate in a raffle for free sneakers and an auction for a custom jersey, all sponsored by Kicking It. Head Women's Basketball Coach, Kendall DuCree shares, "As an HT alumnus and the Women's Basketball Head Coach, I am excited for this event! This collaboration with Kicking It is innovative and unprecedented for our program and our institution. Our collaboration, not only highlights Huston-Tillotson and our Women's Basketball Team, but also sheds light on our local Black owned businesses. It feels like we are inviting our neighbors to a backyard cookout; it is about to be great time!" 

HT Alumnus and owner of Kicking It, Mr. Greg Grovey shares, "Being able to collaborate with my alma mater in any fashion has always been a dream of mine, but to do it on a scale this large while giving back is nothing short of amazing! We hope that as we move forward with new and innovative ideas on how to help HT students and Black businesses grow, we set a new standard on what we as a community can achieve."
