SAN ANGELO – Huston-Tillotson University's volleyball team opens the 2023 regular season Friday with two matches at Angelo State's Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.

HT meets Texas–Permian Basin at 10 a.m., and will then face Henderson State (Ark.) at 2 p.m.

Three of HT's four matches will pit the Rams against NCAA Division II opponents, including both of their Friday matches. Saturday will see the Rams conclude play at the event against host Angelo State; HT will also see a very familiar foe Saturday morning when they square off against Red River Athletic Conference opponent Southwest (N.M.) at 9 a.m.

The three Division II opponents the Rams will face present challenging though not insurmountable competition. Angelo State (11-18) and UTPB (11-16) finished 10th and 13th, respectively, in the 17-team Lone Star Conference in 2022. Henderson State went 10-18 and finished ninth out of 12 teams in the Great American Conference last season.
