WOMEN'S HOOPS: Rams open road trip at Southwest (N.M.)

HOBBS, N.M. – Huston-Tillotson University's women's basketball team sets out on its first road trip of 2024 this week when they visit Southwest (N.M.) for a Thursday night matchup on Jan. 11.
 
The Rams will play their next four games on the road; their trip to New Mexico is part of a two-game trip this week that will also take the team to Paul Quinn College in Dallas.

About the Rams
• Huston-Tillotson prepares for its first Red River Athletic Conference road game of the season after having played their first five league contests at home.
• The Rams seek a return to their winning ways as they try to snap a four-game losing streak after winning their first three conference games.
Dyana Offutt leads the Rams with a scoring average of 15.6 points per game, which ranks seventh in the RRAC.
Destiny Stanford (10.6 points per game) and Anessa Dussette (10.4 points per game) also average in double-figures for the Rams. Stanford is the team's best 3-point shooter, making 36.8 percent (14 of 38) of her long-range shots.
Summer Thomas (pictured) has been productive off the HT bench, averaging 6.7 points and team highs of 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
 
About the Mustangs
• Southwest (N.M.) is looking for its first victory of 2024 after dropping home contests to LSU–Shreveport and Texas A&M–Texarkana last week by an average of margin of 28.5 points.
• The Mustangs are 2-5 in RRAC play, with a home win over Paul Quinn College and a 65-64 win at Louisiana Christian right before the Christmas break.
• Junior guard Milinda Arguellez leads Southwest and ranks third in the RRAC with an average of 18.9 points per game.
• The Mustangs are among the NAIA's top rebounding teams, as they rank sixth in both total rebounds per game (48.0) and offensive rebounds (18.0) per game
