ALEXANDRIA, La. – Huston-Tillotson University's men's basketball team settled for a split in Rapides Parish, La., this weekend after falling 95-79 Saturday at LSU–Alexandria.
Auston Chatman scored a game-high 35 points and secured 11 rebounds for Huston-Tillotson, but a sizzling offensive performance by LSUA in the second half that saw the Generals score 55 points led the home team to the win.
The Generals (10-5, 8-2 RRAC) shot 48.7 percent (19 of 39) after halftime and drained 43.8 percent (7 of 16) of their 3-point shots in the second half. LSUA's offensive output overshadowed HT's showing at the free throw line, where the Rams shot 23 free throws (seven more than the home team) and made 22 of their attempts.
Khalif Allim also posted his second consecutive double-double for the Rams, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
James Harrison came off the bench to score 13 points for HT (5-12, 3-8 RRAC).
Chatman's 35 points were the most by a Rams player in a game since
Faite Williams scored 39 at Jarvis Christian in December 2022.
LSUA's J.D. Allen scored 28 points to lead the Generals to victory.
The Rams return to action Thursday, Jan. 25, when they host Texas College. Tipoff is scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m.
