ALEXANDRIA, La. – LSU–Alexandria scored two goals in the first eight minutes of their Saturday matinee with Huston-Tillotson and took that advantage to match's final whistle to claim a 2-0 win over the visiting Rams.
With their early lead in hand, the Generals clamped down their defense and allowed the Rams few scoring chances in the match.

Juan Acosta made three saves as the Generals were content defend their two-goal advantage and prevent any counterattacks from the Rams.
In their defeat, the Rams joined eight other Red River Athletic Conference teams who were unable to give the Generals (9-3-2) their first conference loss. LSU–Alexandria's 7-0-2 league record has the Generals in second place behind their in-state and intra-system rival LSU–Shreveport.
Meanwhile, the 10th-place Rams (3-5-2, 2-5-1 RRAC) are only three points behind Our Lady of the Lake for the final berth into the RRAC postseason tournament. The Rams were denied an almost certain three points last week when Paul Quinn College did not show up for a scheduled doubleheader at Huston-Tillotson due to miscommunication about match start times; HT awaits a decision on whether the match will be replayed.
On the field, the Rams will now turn their attention to a home match against North American (Texas) on Thursday, Oct. 24. North American (4-7-2) is 1-4-1 in league play this season but has won its only two previous meetings with Huston-Tillotson since joining the RRAC two years ago.
The visiting Mustangs visit Central Texas having on their previous in the Austin area against the Rams 2-1 in Round Rock in 2022. Last season, the Mustangs defeated HT 4-2 in Houston.
