NEW ORLEANS – A pair of Huston-Tillotson University backliners swept the HBCU Athletic Conference's Player of the Week awards in men's soccer, the league announced Monday.

Freshman defender/midfielder Aidan Starr was named the Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week, while junior defender Boston Babiarz took Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Week honors. They were honored for their performance between September 21 through 27.

Starr scored his first career goal which ended up being the match-winning goal in Huston-Tillotson's 4-1 victory over Arlington Baptist University on Saturday. He recorded three shots with one on goal.

Babiarz, a transfer from St. Mary's (Texas), provided assists on HT's first and second goals against Arlington Baptist. On defense, he helped hold the Patriots scoreless for over 85 minutes in Huston-Tillotson's first victory of the season.

The men's soccer team opens HBCU Athletic Conference play Monday, Oct. 5, at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex, when the Rams host Tougaloo (Miss.). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
