SAN ANTONIO – Huston-Tillotson University's men's soccer season ended on the proverbial wrong foot Saturday as the Rams fell 5-1 at Our Lady of the Lake.
Having been eliminated from postseason contention Thursday with a loss at Texas A&M–San Antonio, the Rams were hoping to end the season on a high note. However, the visitors were unable to stop a flurry of Saints scoring chances as OLLU scored the first five goals of the contest.
OLLU was awarded a penalty kick in the seventh minute, which Thiago Fernandes converted into the match's first goal. The Saints' cause was further helped in the 22nd minute thanks to an HT own goal.
Christian Kisukulu scored the lone goal for the Rams in the 78th minute off an assist from
Luis Uriostegui. It was Kisukulu's third goal of the season and his second in as many matches.
Our Lady of the Lake outshot HT's young squad 23-10.
Juan Acosta made five saves for the Rams.
Despite the rough finish to the season, the Rams are optimistic about the future as several freshmen contributed key minutes on the field this season. HT head coach
Aaron Yancy has most of his team returning in addition to his second full recruiting season ahead of him in 2025.
