SAN ANTONIO – Huston-Tillotson University's women's soccer team saw its 2024 season come to an end Saturday with a 4-2 setback at Our Lady of the Lake.
Senior midfielder
America Macias' performance against the Saints was the highlight of the Rams' finale, as she scored both HT goals. She opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first minute, and then scored off an assist from
Izabella Olivo in the 70th minute.
Macias also assisted on
Neydelyn Bonilla's goal in Thursday's match at Texas A&M–San Antonio. The goal was miscredited in a social media post following Thursday's contest.
The two goals from Macias' bookended OLLU's four goals, all of which were scored in the first half. Sophomore
Zoey Gonzales made the start in goal for Huston-Tillotson and was credited with 10 saves.
Though their wins and draws in conference play were few, the Rams were in contention for a postseason berth up until Thursday, the penultimate match day in the Red River Athletic Conference. The Rams were also denied what was most likely going to be a win when Paul Quinn College failed to show up for a match in Austin last month.
