ALEXANDRIA, La. – LSU–Alexandria outscored Huston-Tillotson University's women's basketball team in every quarter Thursday and claimed a 71-50 win over the visiting Rams.
Benedetta Peracchi scored a game-high 16 points to lead the host Generals (10-2), who improved to 7-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play. She shot 7-of-11 from the floor.
The short-handed Rams (5-6, 4-4 RRAC) were led by
Aliyah Carter's 15 points.
Serese Williams scored eight points and pulled in eight rebounds for HT, while
Tyaija Coleman chipped in seven points and nine rebounds.
HT was still within striking distance at halftime as the Generals took a 36-25 lead into the midgame break. The home team put the game out of reach in with nine unanswered points between the 9:34 and 3:42 marks of the third quarter that stretched the LSUA lead to 18 points.
The Generals shot 41 percent (28 of 68) from the floor while holding Huston-Tillotson to 26 percent shooting (19 of 74). The Rams shot 23 percent (5 of 22) from 3-point range, compared to LSU's 35 percent shooting from long range (8 of 23).
Jade Hilliary scored six points off the HT bench, while
Aakiyah Sorrells added four points for the Rams.
The Rams continue their road trip through Louisiana on Saturday, Dec. 14, when they visit LSU–Shreveport, which received votes in the latest NAIA Women's Basketball Top 25 Coaches' poll. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
