AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University will send five women and two men to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships next week at Indiana Wesleyan University in Taylor, Ind.
Sprinter and triple-jumper Jazmyne White will lead her team of five to Indiana, as she has already qualified to compete in five events. A freshman from Jacksonville, Texas, White will compete individually in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, and the triple jump.
White is also part of the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams that also qualified to compete at the national meet. Joining White on the 400-meter relay team is Chaleica Booker, Ayanna Johnson, and
Jaymee Yelton. Booker, Johnson, White, and Dejah Okanji comprise the 100-meter relay team.
Booker, Johnson, and Yelton also qualified in individual events. Johnson will join White in competing in the 200-meter dash, while Booker qualified to compete in the 400-meter run. Yelton will represent the Rams in the 800-meter run.
On the men's side, Aydan Chatman and Kamar Johnson have qualified to compete in the National Championship meet. Chatman will run the 800-meter race, while Johnson has qualified in the 110-meter hurdles race.
The NAIA will make the final announcement of qualifiers by midnight on Friday, May 17. The national championship meet will be contested May 22 through 24.
