MANCHACA, Texas – Huston-Tillotson University's men's soccer team saw its winning streak snapped but remained undefeated as they drew 3-3 with Arlington Baptist on Wednesday.
The Rams led 3-1 at halftime before Arlington Baptist added a pair of second-half goals to pull level with their hosts. Ola Balogun's strike in the 83rd minute tied the contest for the visitors.
Trenton Fannin,
Matias Olivas, and
Jose Camarena all scored first-half goals for the Rams, who will open Red River Athletic Conference play this week with a 2-0-1 non-conference record. Olivas' unassisted goal in the 41st minute was his team-leading fourth goal in three matches.
Arlington Baptist struck first with a goal in the third minute; the goal was also the Patriots' only shot on goal in the first half as the Rams outshot their guests 13-1 prior to halftime. Fannin leveled shortly after the half-hour with a penalty kick goal.
Camarena stretched HT's lead to 3-1 when he scored off a pass from teammate
Christian Kisukulu.
Blaze Hatchet made three saves in goal for the Rams and was credited with the draw.
The Rams open RRAC play Thursday when they visit Jarvis Christian.
