SAN ANTONIO – Huston-Tillotson University's men's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals Thursday to salvage a 2-2 draw at Our Lady of Lake.
Â
The Rams (0-1-2) were seconds away from defeat to their former Red River Athletic Conference rival when freshman Gavin Latas fired home the match-tying goal late in the 90th minute.
Manuel 'Lito' Guevara, who scored on penalty kick earlier in the second half, provided the assist.
Â
The draw snapped a two-match, on-field losing streak to the Saints, giving the Rams their first point in the series since a 3-2 away win in 2022. A 7-1 OLLU victory in Round Rock in 2023 was later forfeited to HT.
Â
Latas' goal was his second in as many matches and the second of the season for the freshman from Pflugerville, Texas (Connally).
Â
Goalkeeper Chasen Hamsen made four saves en route to his first collegiate decision. The junior from Temple, Texas (Lake Belton) returned to HT this season after appearing in three matches without a decision as a freshman in 2024.
Â
Hamsen ceded two goals to OLLU in the first half, but kept the Saints scoreless after halftime.
Â
The Rams return to action Saturday, Aug. 29, when host Wayland Baptist in a non-conference home match. The contest is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Del Valle High School
