NEW ORLEANS – The Huston-Tillotson University men's basketball team dropped the first contest of their three-game road trek Thursday as Xavier (La.) claimed a 79-41 win over the visiting Rams.
Charles Hallmon scored eight points and tallied three steals to lead the Rams (4-12, 4-10 RRAC).
Cade Holzman added seven points and six rebounds for HT, while
Blake Fisher chipped in six points.
Seviuhn Turner scored a game-high 23 points to lead three Xavier (12-5, 11-4 RRAC) players scoring in double-figures.
The Gold Rush led from start to finish as they scored the first nine points of the game. Xavier shot 50 percent (28 of 56) from the field during the game, while the Rams shot 26.7 percent (16 of 60) from the floor.
The Rams return to action Saturday, Jan. 18, when they visit Louisiana Christian. Tipoff for the men's game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will tip off approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game between the two schools.
