Thursday's conference home opener is the first of two games in Austin this week

AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University's men's basketball team returns to action Thursday with the first of two games in Austin this week.

The Rams play their first HBCU Athletic Conference home game Thursday when they welcome the Tougaloo (Miss.) Bulldogs to Branch Gymnasium as a part of a men's-and-women's doubleheader. The men's team will then play a non-conference game Saturday at NCAA Division III Concordia.

ABOUT THE RAMS
• Huston-Tillotson is 3-1 in official home games this season; the Rams are also coming off an 84-57 exhibition home win over Palo Alto College two days prior to Thanksgiving
• The Rams are one of the best ball-control teams in the HBCU Athletic Conference this season. They force an average of 17.3 turnovers per game (second only to Philander Smith in the league), and are the only team in the conference with less than 12 giveaways per game (11.9 turnovers committed per contest)
• HT sophomores Shannon Robinson and Jaylen Streeter lead the Rams with identical 10.5-points-per-game scoring averages

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
• Tougaloo (Miss.) is 2-5 in road games this season, which includes a loss at NCAA Division I Southern Miss in November
• The Bulldogs are 2-3 on the road at NAIA opponents this season
• Tougaloo ranks second in the HBCUAC in field-goal percentage; the Bulldogs sink 46.1 percent of their shots
• Senior forward Antonio Patterson leads the Bulldogs and ranks third in the conference in scoring with an average of 20.1 points per game
