AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University's men's soccer team opens their 2025 season Friday when they make the relatively short drive across Austin to visit Concordia Texas.

Aaron Yancy will field a revamped and reloaded team that begins a new era in the NAIA's HBCU Athletic Conference. The Rams' opening day roster is an almost-equal balance of returners and newcomers; 17 players return to the Rams in 2025, with 15 new teammates completing the roster.

The Rams return 40 percent of their scoring output from last season, led by striker
Christian Kisukulu, a senior from Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of Congo. Kisukulu scored three goals and added an assist in 2024, and was nominated for the HBCUAC's Offensive Player of the Year in the league's preseason voting.

The Rams will play their first four matches within a 60-mile radius of Austin. HT hosts Texas Wesleyan on Monday, Aug. 25 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex, which is followed by a Saturday, Aug. 30 match at nearby NCAA Division II opponent St. Edward's.
HT will travel to Texas Lutheran in Seguin on Tuesday, Sept. 2, before heading to north for matches at Arlington Baptist and Texas A&M–Texarkana the following weekend.
Concordia Texas, an NCAA Division III institution, compiled a 9-5-4 overall record last season while going 6-4-1 in the 12-team Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Tornados just missed out on the four-team SCAC tournament last season, as they finished tied for fifth place with Texas Lutheran with 19 points, one point behind fourth-place St. Thomas (Texas).
