AUSTIN – Huston-Tillotson University men's basketball player Cade Holzman has been recognized as his sport's HT Rams Student-Athlete of the Month. He is among the first student-athletes to be honored as part of a new program to recognize HT's outstanding student-athletes in their sport and in the classroom.
Cade is a senior at Huston-Tillotson University who is majoring in both kinesiology and education. He achieved a 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2025 semester.
A native of Austin, Cade transferred to HT in time for the 2024-25 season after playing junior college basketball at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas. He is averaging 7.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game this season, and ranks second on the team with 17 blocked shots.

Why did you choose to attend Huston-Tillotson University?
I chose to attend HTU to return home and finish school and basketball.
What does being a student-athlete at HT mean to you?
It means the world being able to be an athlete back at home and play in front of my family.
What has been your biggest accomplishment so far this season?
My biggest accomplishment so far this season has been grinding and getting better daily.
What motivates you to excel academically and athletically?
My grandpa is who motivates me to go hard and excel daily.
Who has had the biggest impact on your athletic journey and why?
My high school coach because he taught me how to properly play the game and be a man.
How do you balance academics, athletics, and personal life?
I try to finish my academics as early as possible to be able to work out and enjoy life.
What goals have you set for yourself for the remainder of the season?
For the rest of the season I want to finish strong and make playoffs.
What is something about you that most people don't know?
Something about me that most people don't know is that I was born 2 months early.
What advice would you give to future HT student-athletes?
I'd just say to grind everyday to strive on and off the field/court.
